Infrared Imagery
Although
vegetation such as vines or trees appear green, they reflect most of
the sun's energy in the infrared part of the spectrum. VineView uses
cameras with special filters that allow us to collect data in specific infrared
wavelengths. Since plants reflect so highly in the infrared, infrared
imagery is important for analyzing variations in vigor, and is
essential for NDVI classification. ![]() False color infrared spectrum image. The infrared band has been combined with the red and green visible bands, so that the infrared reflectance appears red in the image. Resolution is about .75 meter per pixel. |
