A new specialized data product offered by VineView, thermal imagery has huge potential, not just for irrigation management applications, but also for detecting crop health. Plants regulate their temperature through a process called evapotranspiration. Plants under stress (caused disease or insufficient water) are unable to maintain this process, and appear hotter in a thermal image. VineView can also combine thermal data with canopy density information derived from multispectral data to further improve anomaly detection.
